SUMMER CARNIVAL FUN FOR CHILDREN AT FAIRKYTES ARTS CENTRE

As the summer holidays draw to a close a group of children in Havering will have something to take away with them.

Around 30 children took part in a week-long Summer Carnival Club at Fairkytes Arts Centre where they made costumes, carnival puppets and learnt music and dancing.

Children aged eight to 14 worked with professional carnival arts company Emergency Exit Arts and the Grand Union Orchestra during the week to put together their costumes, which included colourful headdresses, routines and music.

A SUMMER OF SPACE CRAFT AND SPORTS FUN IN HAVERING

The summer holidays are here and the Council has organised a range of activities for children aged three to 15.

Libraries across the borough will be hosting space craft and stories where children aged three to five can design their own lunar landscape and build aliens and space ships from craft and recycled materials including bottles, cardboard and foil.

Councillor Paul Rochford, Cabinet Member for Children and Learning, said:

"We have a vast range of fun activities lined up for children of all ages during the summer break.
