Summer Holiday Specials at the Bandstand
The UK’s sunniest seafront is offering a packed programme of family activities this summer including all new Kids Summertime Special Concerts at the iconic Eastbourne Bandstand.
Brand new for 2010, Eastbourne Bandstand has added a family concert to its entertainment programme every Tuesday during the school holidays with the Kids Summertime Special offering performances from children’s favourite movies such as High School Musical, Hannah Montana and Mamma Mia.
With tickets just £4 if booked in advance, families can enjoy live entertainment on the heart of Eastbourne seafront and free face painting is on offer for the children too.
Eastbourne Borough Council Cabinet Member for Tourism, Cllr Neil Stanley said “We are really excited to launch the all new Kids Summertime Special Concerts to Eastbourne Bandstand for 2010 and extend the already packed programme of entertainment to choose from. The UK’s official sunniest place, Eastbourne’s beautiful seafront is the perfect place for a family break this summer. Not only do we have a great choice of accommodation suited to families, but we have a bumper selection of family activities to match making Eastbourne the perfect destination for parents looking to entertain the children over the next few weeks!”
This summer, parents can also book their children into Tyro Lifeguard courses on Eastbourne’s main resort beach with the Beach Lifeguards ready to give kids aged 8-12 an introduction to lifeguarding and teach them basic personal survival skills. Launching next Monday 2 August, afternoon and morning sessions can be booked throughout the school holidays offering a unique opportunity for children to learn all they need to know about staying safe and having fun by the sea.
Families looking to enjoy a quieter stretch of the seafront can head to Helen Garden near Holywell. The immaculate garden perched on top of the cliff and overlooking the sea offers an 18-hole putting course, lawn bowls and petanque and makes the perfect place to stop off at and enjoy an ice cream on a hot summer’s day.
For visitors looking for a taste of adventure and a unique way to take in Eastbourne’s glorious stretch of seafront, powerboat adventure trips with Sussex Voyages offer the chance for families to whiz through the resort’s shores and venture as far as Beachy Head Lighthouse and the Seven Sisters cliffs, or the chance to sail past the Royal Sovereign Light Tower, a famous dot on the Eastbourne horizon.
Bandstand tickets, Tyro Lifeguard Courses and Sussex Voyages powerboat adventures can all be booked from the Seafront Office next to the Bandstand and online from www.visiteastbourne.com.
With a packed programme of events taking place on Eastbourne seafront this summer too including Airbourne, the world’s biggest free seafront airshow, the south coast resort makes the perfect destination for a summer holiday.
