Radio Airbourne Back on Air!

The official radio station for the world’s biggest free seafront airshow is returning to the airwaves from 9-15 August bringing live updates and commentary from Eastbourne International Airshow.

Specsavers are sponsoring Radio Airbourne again this year when it returns next month on 87.7FM to entertain airshow fans in the lead up and during Eastbourne Airbourne 2010.

Broadcasting 24 hours a day, brand new for this year, companies are being offered the opportunity to advertise on air or sponsor travel and weather updates, and reach an audience of thousands of listeners.

Fancy footwork to kick off Edgbarrow's official reopening and summer fun day

Edgbarrow Sports Centre's grand reopening will kick off with a special visit from a well-known footballer on Sunday, August 1.

Ex-Chelsea and Leeds United striker Tore Andre Flo, will be making sure there are no own goals during the celebration, which marks the centre's re-launch after a fire late last year.

Mr Flo, who has also represented his native Norway in international matches, will be joined by the Deputy Mayor of Bracknell Forest Cllr Chris Turrell and the centre's mascot Foxy to celebrate its much earlier than anticipated reopening.

A SUMMER OF SPACE CRAFT AND SPORTS FUN IN HAVERING

The summer holidays are here and the Council has organised a range of activities for children aged three to 15.

Libraries across the borough will be hosting space craft and stories where children aged three to five can design their own lunar landscape and build aliens and space ships from craft and recycled materials including bottles, cardboard and foil.

Councillor Paul Rochford, Cabinet Member for Children and Learning, said:

"We have a vast range of fun activities lined up for children of all ages during the summer break.

National Trust opens “tea towel free” shop as new gateway to Cheddar Gorge countryside

The first ever National Trust centre and shop for the outdoors opens today in Cheddar Gorge in Somerset, providing visitors with information to help them explore the surrounding Somerset countryside.

With not a tea towel or wooden duck in sight, visitors will be able to buy from a new outdoors product range, including walking socks and Ordnance Survey maps, in what will be a major change to the usual National Trust shopping experience.

Poole's Weekly Events 'Summertime in the South'

This week will witness the last Summer Breeze on the Quay on Thurs 29th July. Every
Thursday in August the event will take place at Sandbanks Beach from 7pm.

Tues 27th - Coles Miller Dream Machines Poole Quay (6-10pm)
Hundreds of bikers arrive each week to park up and enjoy the atmosphere. Poole Protyre will be on hand to offer motorcyclists expert advice on tyre safety tonight.

Boscombe street party to celebrate partnership work

A Boscombe street will come alive with music, stalls, entertainers and children’s activities this Saturday, 24 July 2010.

Local residents are invited to Roumelia Lane’s very own street party, hosted by Bournemouth Borough Council in partnership with Dorset Police Blue Light Day and The Friends of Roumelia Lane to mark the ongoing work and commitment to improve and enhance the area.

There is over a month left to give feedback and comments on an Issues and Options Report that will shape an Area Action Plan for Eastbourne town centre outlining its future up until 2026.

Bumper crowds packed Eastbourne seafront this weekend to witness the biggest line up ever at Eastbourne Extreme making 2010 a record year for the free extreme sports festival.

Tens of thousands of visitors enjoyed two action-packed days featuring one of the globe’s top bikers in the Animal Relentless Bike Tour, round four of the national Formula Future Offshore Powerboat Championships, brand new Battle Slalom competition, a nail-biting Battle of the Bands final and much more.

Historic buildings set to battle it out in new Top Trumps game

Everything from tanks to Transformers have featured in the Top Trumps card game so far, but now some of the country’s historic buildings are set to battle it out in a new version of the game released this week.

The National Trust game is available in Trust shops and online at http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/shop and features thirty historic buildings going head-to-head in battles over acreage, film and TV appearances, hauntings and cups of tea consumed.
